Bear Sighting

At approximately 11:30 a.m. today, a black bear was spotted in the Anthology neighborhood, which includes the Legacy Point Elementary School. We contacted the Douglas County School District and escorted students from a neighborhood park safely back to the school.

Over the next 90 minutes, he moved through backyards, along trails through the Stroh Ranch subdivision before heading into the gulch along the Cherry Creek Trail. He was last spotted near the Cherry Creek trail at approximately 1:00 p.m. Colorado Parks and Wildlife stated that since he hadn’t exhibited threatening behavior and returned to the gulch that there was no need for them to respond.

If you spot the bear, please call the Parker Police Department at 303.841.9800 and don’t approach it.
