This free training teaches simple R.A.D. self-awareness and self-defense strategies (Rape, Aggression, Defense), empowering you to create a safer future through tested techniques for older adults. The 15-hour program is offered in ten sessions. We will discuss medication safety and storage; elder abuse; personal safety at home and away; and how to report crimes.
The Parker Police Department is partnering with the Parker Senior Center and Morningstar of Parker to make this training possible. Classes will begin Saturday, August 3, and run for 10 consecutive Saturdays. There is no commitment to attend all of the classes, come to the classes that interest you!

Aug 10 Learn strategies to reduce your risk. Blocking and striking moves for self defense.
Aug 17 Survival awareness and defensive resistance. Learn how to use off hand strikes and Hammer fists.
Aug 24 Using weapons for defense and how to report an incident. Using knee strikes for self defense.
Aug 31 What medicines make you a target. Defensive wrist grabs and lower leg targets.
Sep 7 How to avoid becoming a victim of frauds and scams. Bear hugs and elbow strikes
Sep 14 Signs to look for in financial scams and fraud. How to use lapel grabs and chokes.
Sep 21 Preparing yourself for natural disasters and personal emergencies. Reviewing defense tactics.
Sep 28 Protecting yourself from sexual assault and rape. Reviewing defense tactics.
Oct 5 Staying safe with your personal vehicle and on public transportation. Ground defense demonstration by the instructor, no physical application.
Classes will be held at Morning Star Senior Living, 11000 S Dransfeldt Road, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. for 10 weeks beginning Saturday, August 3.
