Stay-At-Home Public Health Order

list of dos and donts

Governor Jared Polis issued stay-at-home public health orders for the State of Colorado Wednesday, March 25. This order went into effect Thursday, March 26, at 6:00 a.m. and will run through Saturday, April 11.

The order lists permissible and non-permissible actions by citizens.  Permissible actions include grocery shopping, shopping for medical supplies and prescriptions, pet care, and engaging in outdoor activities or walking a pet while maintaining prescribed social distancing of at least 6 feet.

The purpose of these two new orders is to slow the spread of COVID-19.  As we, the Parker Police Department, align ourselves with these directives, any contacts we make will be handled with an “education first” strategy for voluntary compliance. When we encounter individuals who aren’t complying with the stay-at-home orders, we will ask them to disperse and return home. When we respond to individual complaints from residents, we will first seek to educate those not complying. It is only when individuals refuse to comply with the orders that a citation will be considered and possibly issued.

We will not stop individuals as they drive through town or have checkpoints to enforce compliance.  We will not ask for proof that you are performing an essential activity.  We will ask that you, please return to your place of residence to help us slow the spread of COVID-19.
